Mac not accepting Apple ID password due to time/date being incorrect

My Mac will not accept the correct Apple ID when I type it in. I get a message that the date/time is not correct. I have tried holding down the Command & K keys upon a restart to reset to factory setting, but it still asks for my password and tells me it is incorrect. The same thing when I try to reset the time and update. I am beyond frustrated. Is there any way to get around this? I know the password is correct because it works on my iPhone.

I have tried holding down the Command & K keys ...

I don't know what that does.

If the Mac's time and date are incorrect boot macOS Recovery and use Terminal to set its real time clock.
