Dictation software for continuous dictation, to replace the lost 'enhanced dictation'. For OS 10.15.

Can I find this software that works, is easy to use and not ridiculously priced?

Seems like you may be trying to replace a lost "third-party" (non-Apple) 'enhanced dictation' app.

Wondering if you have a copy saved in a back-up of your data : eg on external "Time Machine" portable drive.

or

If the dictation app came from the App Store, you may be able to "RE-download" that purchase made earlier:

The article: Redownload apps and games from Apple - Apple Support

says:

"How to redownload apps on Mac

  1. Open the App Store on your Mac.
  2. Click your name in the sidebar, then find the app that you want to download. If you don’t see your name in the sidebar, click Sign In, sign in to your Apple Account, then click your photo in the sidebar.
  3. If you use Family Sharing, you can see a family member's purchases when you go to Purchased by and choose their name.
  4. Find the app you want to download, then click the Redownload button (Cloud with downward pointing arrow)."

If you need to trouble-shoot: Find out what to do if you can’t redownload the app

With OS 10.15 installed, your Mac can already: Dictate your messages and documents on Mac - Apple Support

or another option: the above article also says:

"If you need to dictate text and control your Mac using your voice instead of a keyboard and trackpad,

use Voice Control. See Control your Mac and apps using Voice Control."

All the best :-)

Sorry I haven't been able to supply what you are looking for.

Re: "I want the ability to dictate continuously, not just in 30 second spurts".

Many of us are looking forward and accessing the newer enhancements Apple makes available.

Eg: You can choose the different MacOS versions at the top of this article below, which seems to be updated along with each new MacOS:

Dictate your messages and documents on Mac - Apple Support

says:

MacOS 10.15 and MacOS 11:

Note: For best results, speak for no more than 40 seconds at a time

MacOS 12: MacOS 13: MacOS 14: no longer mentions 40 seconds, says:

Note: Press and release  to start Dictation; press and hold  to activate Siri (Siri must be enabled).

Latest version: MacOS 15: "You can dictate text of any length without a timeout".

and

"Ambiguous text is underlined in blue. For example, you may get the result “flour” when you intended the word “flower”. If this is the case, click the underlined word and select an alternative. You can also type or dictate the correct text."

As far as the dictation (enhanced dictation button at keyboard), if Apple took it away, they are not going provide it back to us at Apple Store. Can someone tell me what range (beginning-to end) of Mac OS came with the 'enhanced dictation' option? I've been using Mac since 1984 +or-, so I have a lot of system disks collected. Maybe I have a copy of a system that still has the enhanced (continuous) diction. In case all this fails and no one can help me, could someone please tell me the name of, or where I can get Mac dictation software that has worked well for them? And please remember, I want the ability to dictate continuously, not just in 30 second spurts.
