How long will AirTag's battery life last?

I recently bought some airtags for a trip I’m planning. I’m not going for almost a year. But it was a good sale so I bought them now. I have not removed them from the packaging or anything. I read the battery life is usually about a year. But since I’m not going for about a year and don’t plan on using them in the meantime, should I remove the original battery?

AirTags come with a pre-installed CR2032 battery, and their typical battery life is around one year with regular use. Since you’re not planning to use them for nearly a year and they’re still in the packaging, you don’t need to remove the batteries. The battery won’t drain significantly while they are unused and unactivated.

Once you activate the AirTags closer to your trip, the one-year battery life will start. You can just leave them as they are until you're ready to use them.
