CURSOR UIViewservice Not Responding

Hello

I see in the activity monitor that this process:

CursorUIViewService (Not responding)

In some applications, the system crashes typing text when using CAPSLOCK. It only helps if I force the process to stop.

What could be the problem and how to fix it? Thank you.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 15.0

Hi,

When this problem occurs, there is a significant lag on the keyboard. We've discussed this issue many times with the person trying to help and respond here in another thread. What they fail to understand is this: when this problem occurs, the keyboard lag persists across all Apple applications, including Apple Pages, Safari, TextEdit, Sticky Notes, and others.

Therefore, this is a bug within the operating system, and Apple needs to address it. No application you install, especially those from the App Store, can affect the system beyond itself, even if there is an issue with it. However, it is very clear that the system becomes unusable for typing within Apple's own applications.

In the thread I created alone (It is currently closed for responses.), nearly 200 people have said "me too." You can find this issue on many forums like Reddit and X. There’s no need to look for the problem in another application.

This is a bug within the operating system. When the CursorUIViewService application becomes unresponsive, the Caps Lock key starts behaving oddly, and keyboard response slows down significantly. There’s no need to look for this issue in another application. Don’t waste your time. I’ve tried everything possible.

Then do Not Restore from the Time Machine Backup

As for the info in the links - I have never needed to jump through such hoops to solve what an Erase All Contents and reinstalling can and will do

PS and only for Information purposes

Your above reply was receive 3 times in 3 different and identical emails from Apple

This is not your or my problem by rather belongs with our Host - Apple

Correction, make that 6 Times same email from Apple

Hi and thanks again for the reply and advice.

What do you think about the following solutions in the links where they solve this problem with some code in the terminal? Wouldn't this be the way to go?

1- https://www.macobserver.com/mac/cursoruiviewservice-lag-fix/

2- https://stackoverflow.com/questions/77248249/disable-macos-sonoma-text-insertion-point-cursor-caps-lock-indicator

I'm afraid that if I reset the MAC to factory settings and do a restore from Time Machine, it won't solve the problem as I will be working with the same data.

Sorry for the delayed response

The Apple Notification System has been experiencing Abnormal behaviours over the past few days

" I have one more thought. I had this same problem on an old MACbook from 2013. Back then I attributed it to poor performance. I was moving some data from this old device, could it be related? "

It could be related

" Is it possible to solve this problem by resetting the MACbook to factory settings with data recovery via TimeMachine?

Barring a Hardware issue with the computer, which is less lightly than a Software issue

Reseting the computer to Factory Setting >> Use Erase All Content and Settings could be an option

The only caveat being >> Using Time Machine Back to Restore Everything would probably re-introduce the existing issues back into the computer

IMHO - it would be best to only install new application etc Directly from the Developer or the Apple Apps Store.

Hello, thank you for your comprehensive reply.

  • I updated macOS - no change.

But I am not sure how to proceed, what to do.

Just for clarity regarding Archicad 28

The Screen Shot was form Archicad website where their Specification denoted that version was designed for Intel Computers

Now, this does not mean it will not work on Apple Silicon computers like your

Depending on what Binaries are in that application ?

When the application is launched, Rosetta 2 may or may not be invoked to interpret the Binaries

Short ditty below may or may not be useful as related to Archicad 28

In effect, Archicad should function regardless of the Bineries

Rosetta 2 is only available on Apple Computer with the Silicon M1 / M2 / M3  / M4 Computers.

There are three categories / types of software that can run on the Operations System.

Only Intel Binary Code. This software will invoke Rosetta 2 to translate the Intel binaries so the operating system can understand and execute the Application. The Applications must be 64 Bit to function on Big Sur, Monterey and Ventura / Sonoma

Universal Binary Software.  It contains Both Intel and M1/ M2 / M3 ARMs binary code and refer to (  Universal 2 ) When the user installs a 64 bit Application that contains Both Intel and M1 / M2/ M3  ARMs binaries - depending on factors, the Operating System may or may not invoke Rosetta 2.

Apple Silicon “ Checking in System Information >> Applications  >> as of now, only see One Application classified as Apple Silicon and that is “ Rosetta 2 Updater “.

That would make perfect sense since. It is specifically designed to operate only on Apple Silicon M1 / M2 / M3 / M4 ARMs based computers

This machine should just be fly along without this CursorUIViewService 80.78 % (Apple) “ issue

Though there are 5 areas of possible concern.

The combination of any of the below,  could be,  a contributing factor in the CursorUIViewService  issue

Video Information:

  Apple M3 Pro

1 -    L32p-30 6016 x 3384

A - Here I am out of my depth. Perhaps another contributor has some insights regarding the computer and External Display using 6016 x384 Resolutions

2 - System Software:  macOS Sequoia 15.0.1 (24A348)

A - Current version 15.1 was released October 28 and worth considering the update

  3 - Launch Daemons:

https://www.wibu.com/products/codemeter.html

Running] com.wibu.CodeMeter.Server.plist (WIBU-SYSTEMS AG - installed 2024-08-02)

Command: /Applications/CodeMeter.app/Contents/MacOS/CodeMeterMacX -v

A - Used for what they say from the above link

How this relates the current issue I am not totally sure. Though, having seen some others using similar software, it has caused them some issues

Download the Application Etrecheck  ( External Link ) directly from the Developer.

The Application is Not a " Silver Bullet "  and is  only a tool to examine the Hardware / Software used on this computer

This is a Diagnostic Tool that makes no changes to the computer Hardware / Software used on this computer

The application is free or paid from added features.
