Precision finding not working on my "Find My"

Hey guys

I noticed recently that precision finding stopped working in Find my.

Now instead of the "Find nearby" button, it is showing the "Directions" button.

I am located in Curacao, which is not in the list of unsupported countries and this feature always worked find since it was launched.

I suspect that IOS 18 probably broke support for our region since I tried my wife's phone and it is showing the same.

Already tried restarting, checking if location services are allowed for find my, everything seems fine. I'm rather wondering if this is a widespread issue or not

I'm having the same problem here. My wife phone is working on IOS 17. I shared all my Airtags with her, The Precision finding works fine on the old IOS. i am able to get the "FIND ME" button. however My phone (IOS18) only has the "Direction" button. i did a test with several phones that upgraded on IOS18. none of them are able to get the "FIND ME". however the ones with IOS 17. the find me button is just there for the same AIRTAG.. This is a really big downfall for the apple update. making the main feature for use of Airtag absolute.

I hope they can fix this ASAP.

You’re exactly right, Moogie. Today I upgraded an Iphone 14 to iOS 18.1 (from 17) and took delivery of an iPad Mini running 18. The iPhone now only gives directions to a very appropriate location for an Airtag, but not precision findind, about half the time. The iPad fails to precision find about 90% of the time. As you say, when it fails: Now instead of the "Find nearby" button, it is showing the "Directions" button.

Pretty serious bug.

I am also from Curaçao and have this same issue. I can no longer use precision finding on none of my 4 AirTags. Did not change any settings, it just randomly started showing "Directions" instead of "Find". I have a friend that also has an AirTag, but he's still able to use Precision Finding via his iPhone. He shared his AirTag with me yesterday, I was still unable to use precision finding, while he still could whilst standing right next to me.

This issue should be fixed ASAP.
