Is it possible a charger damaged my iPhone charging port?

Hi There,

About six months ago, I bought a Journey four-port USB C charging station. Not long after I bought it, it died — the light went out on the base and nothing charged. At the same time, I started having problems with both an iPhone 11 and an older iPad, each of which would only charge when powered off, or (in the iPhone case) when charging wirelessly.

A repair shop said the problem was with the charging port. I can't remember the specific diagnosis — just that it was fried.

Customer service where I bought the Journey charger replaced it. It worked fine until today, when it too just died unexpectedly. My iPhone 14 was plugged into it when it died, and now it is behaving exactly the same way — will charge wirelessly, but not via any cable.

Is it possible the charger(s) caused the problems with the devices? Is this a known thing? Is there a remedy?

Many thanks,

Patchen
