iOS 18 video playback frustrating need slider like iOS 17

Hope anyone can help! In the new iOS 18 photo app when I’m playing back a video I can start using the slider but then if I stop and pause it, the slider doesn’t seem to be working and I can’t go to the spot on the video that I want. I loved iOS 17 where you could see the whole video below and slide along if you wanted to take a screenshot of a frame. Can anyone help me get it back to the way iOS 17 is or is there a trick to getting iOS 18 video playback Easier using the slider if I want to slide it and stop and take a screenshot? Hope I’m explaining it right! Just very frustrating and there must be a trick!
