What is the maximum character limit for a Note?

I've seen this question asked a few times with no sighting of any Apple authored advice. While Apple has published a support document called Limits for iCloud Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Bookmarks, and Maps there is no mention of the Notes app.

I suspect that you'd run out of space on your device before Notes stated to give you grief.
