MagSafe case interferes with wi-fi signal on iPhone 16 Pro
I have used Speck Presidio cases on iPhones dating back to about the 7 without issue, including a MagSafe case on the 14 Pro. On the new 16 Pro, I used the Speck Presidio Perfect-Clear Grip MagSafe case. Since putting the 16 Pro into service, I began noticing that my wi-fi speeds were noticeably less than usual. I have reliable Gigabit service, and tested a spot in the most remote location. It tested at 95 Mbps. Just on a hunch, I removed the case and the speed increased to 276 Mbps. I repeated the test 3 times in 2 locations, with the same results. I then tested with an iPhone 11 Pro and a Speck Presidio case (not MagSafe) and got about 215 Mpbs at the worst location, which is consistent with past tests. I checked the past log for my 14 Pro with a Speck MagSafe case, and consistently saw speeds over 200 Mpbs in the exact same spot. Re-booted the Gateway, which has not moved, with no difference. I’m waiting to hear from Speck. Also contacted Apple customer service. No reports on this case yet, but they did say that some cases can affect the wi-fi signal. I can understand a modest drop in the range of 10 % or so, but this drop is significant. Has anyone experienced a similar problem?
