Subject: Concerns About Open Port 62078 on iPhone 12 Pro
Hi Apple Community,
I recently encountered a concerning issue with my iPhone 12 Pro running iOS 18. While using an app called Fing on my Android device, I scanned my network and discovered that port 62078 was open on my iPhone, labeled as
"iphone-sync."
This revelation has left me worried about potential security vulnerabilities and the possibility of someone spying on my device.
I performed a factory reset on my iPhone to see if the port would close, but after reinstalling a single app and setting up Face ID, the port reappeared. I am puzzled as to why this port is open and whether it poses a threat to my privacy.
Here are the steps I’ve taken so far:
- Factory Reset: I reset my iPhone to its original settings, but the port reopened after reinstalling an app.
- Background App Refresh: I disabled this feature to limit unnecessary app activity.
- Permissions Review: I checked app permissions to restrict access where possible.
I am reaching out to the community for insights and assistance. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue with port 62078? Could this be a normal behavior related to iPhone syncing, or should I be concerned about security?
Any advice or suggestions on how to close this port and ensure my device is secure would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your help!
Best,
Ahmed CS
