I am using 16 Pro , i was facing the same issue till today , but I have changed the setting as below and now it is working.
Kept Dark mode on , Automatic Option is off ,True Tone is off ,night shift is off , Auto lock -30 sec, Raise to awake -on ,
Always display is off.
i have tested is multiple times and it is working fine !
Lawrence Finch I don’t know where you’re getting the idea this issue has been resolved because looking at comments from the last couple weeks, it doesn’t appear it has been. Unless I’m missing something, I haven’t seen a suggestion on here that has been noted by several people as far as resolving the problem. Please point me to the resolution that has worked.
Sorry, Lawrence…I get that you’re trying to be helpful but you’re absolutely not when you ignore those of us saying (even 6 months later) that the issue is still unresolved.
I’m new to the conversation and here is what I have found. I know where to turn the feature off; that’s easy to find and toggle. The problem is that it keeps toggling itself back on. Got a solution for that? I do hope it’s better than “keep toggling it back off and stop responding to an already answered thread.”
To be more specific, I just discovered this morning that when I connect to the phone’s hotspot from my MacBook (initiated from the MacBook while the phone is locked and sitting on the desk or in my pocket), it seems to also turn the ‘always on display’ back on, and this is at least one of the reasons why I’m finding it to be a recurring issue. It’s the only specific trigger I have identified so far but I’ve only had the new phone for 5 days so far (16 Pro Max). This never happened on my 12 Pro Max which probably didn’t have the same option but it was set to never lock and did that flawlessly for me.
If anyone has an actual recommendation or knowledge on how to resolve this, I’d appreciate your thoughts. If nothing else, maybe someone else can test this on their end and confirm.
At the least, it may cast some light on the mystery behind the feature randomly showing back up for other users. Hope this helps!
I’ve tried everything on this list without luck. I was hoping the last update would fix this, but clearly it did not. I think at this point I’m just going to have to take it into Apple and have them look at it. Until then, I’ll just continue to manually lock it every time I’m done using it.
The solution by KraZedKat worked for me as well. I appreciate someone who actually listens and tries to work with people, unlike Lawrence who kept repeating the same thing although people said it wasn't working.
Nope it’s set to default 30 seconds its driving e crazy I can’t think of any other thing it could possible be
Nope like I said earlier that’s the FIRST thing I checked. What else could it be ? Because it’s NOT that
Yes this is driving me nuts, display just wakes up and refuses to go off till phone is manually locked.
Always-on display is off. Raise to wake is off too. Auto-lock is 30sec
Thank you. That fixed it. 😊
facing this exact issue. i have always on display off and set auto lock to 30 seconds. but when a notification comes, the display doesn’t turn off.
Same issue for me. It's not the lock and not the 'always on' toggle.
Please re-read the post you just responded to.
This is helpful. Thank-you!
Always on Toggle is not on my settings
