How can I track my stolen iPhone?

My iphone was stolen and find my iphone did not work. i did share my location before it was stolen but it has been weeks since its been lost. its constantly saying that the device is offline. is there no hope of tracking my fone. apple it would be trackable once turned on but still nothing. there really no hope of finding my device. it says it would be findable once connected to the internet but i dont think the person would be able to connect to the internet if the fone is locked

Beware of a common phishing scam: You may get a text or email from “Apple” or “Apple Security” (or sometimes “Police”) saying your phone has been found and to click on a link to see its location. This is NEVER from Apple or from law enforcement; it is from the thief or fence to steal your Apple ID and identity. Delete any such message without responding to it. Apple never gets involved in lost or stolen devices→Recognize and avoid social engineering schemes including phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams

Finally, if you actually could locate it how could that help? Confront the thief? People have been murdered doing that. Ask the police? Unless you live in a very small town police don’t want to get involved with low value thefts that have very little chance of recovery. Your phone is probably already on its way to a repurposing factory in Shenzhen, China.

Here’s Apple’s advice→Find your lost iPhone or iPad - Apple Support. You will notice it doesn't address stolen device recovery, just how to protect your contents; your chances of getting it back are nil. You may finally see it when it reaches the stolen phone repurposing factory in Shenzhen, China.

If your phone is stolen, chances are that you're never going to get it back – whether you see a location or not. If you did see a location, what would you do? Go and confront a bunch of criminals in person – and maybe lose a lot more than your phone?

The value of Find My in this case is being able to turn your phone into an Activation-Locked "brick" – thus reducing the chances of the thieves enjoying an easy, undeserved "payday".
