Why is there a delay before YouTube commercials on Apple TV?

Hi All.

when my YouTube shows commercials on my AppleTV, there is a delay (black screen) for like 5 seconds before the commercials starts.

Is this just normal? Or can I do anything to “fix” it, so that it starts right away?

YouTube is starting videos with delays and/or interruptions on my Apple TV 4K The YouTube app on my Apple TV started behaving erratically a couple of months ago. When I start a video. most of the times there is a delay, sometimes even a few seconds of black screen, and the video starts a few seconds from the beginning. Sometimes, not always, this also happens in the middle of the video. When an ad cuts in, this repeats again and is sometimes happening three/four times in a row. I tried with subscribing to YouTube, so no ads, but the problem did not go away. Uninstalling, reinstalling, restarting did not help. Searching online, I can see people have been reporting similar issues as far back as two years ago. In my case, I only started having it recently. In another Community discussion from the past somebody commented that it is not Apple's responsibility but rather Google's. I disagree. Running the YouTube app on my Samsung TV and not on the Apple TV I have no such problem, so Apple has at least a part of the responsibility. Has anybody found a solution or a workaround?

TV app doesn't respond or continue playback after closing screen for 30 seconds Whenever I pause my show and close the laptop and come back after at least 30 seconds the video doesn't continue playing even after scrubbing ahead or behind, only fix is to force close TV app and reopen and go back to the tv show I was watching. Very annoying when I am watching and need frequent short stops within an episode and need to pull up show page to continue watching where I left off.

it's because youtube change the fps for commercials and it seem to throw off the appletv and result in what you experience

Thanx…. But it (if You referred to the “match frame rate”) didn’t do any difference here….
