Odd clear squares that hold two of my apps . I can use the apps, but I don’t know where they came from.

These odd clear squares appeared on my IPad out of no where. My iPad is probably 5 to 7 years old. But it works fine. The odd clear squares , I have 2 of them have captured two apps inside the each of them. Does anyone know what this is? There is no problem with this but I would love to know where they came from and if they can cause any problems? Thanks for any information.
