Citytelecoin scam or?

I received an email showing my activity on a new browser and a request to "revarify" my apple ID from an address that is normally associated with phone charging service for the incarcerated (?). The whole thing looked quite official, with apple tv+ graphics and layout, but coming from "@citytelecoin.com".

The link that it provided takes me to another official looking page that has sign in fields. These fields <should> be automatically populated with sign in information from my password manager IF it's from a domain that Is valid. It doesn't and it isn't. Leaving the page and assuming this is a fishing scam I am now faced with what seems to be a frozen Apple TV+ account, just as the email warned. Still not convinced it's anything official but then how to explain the frozen web page. My browser went to the right place and has me signed in but no links work on the page <at all>

Thoughts or similar experiences anyone?

Thanks Urquhart, It's the site running on Chrome. No other

sites behave anything like this on the same active browser. I did all of the

things you've suggested where the last suggestion, using a different browser,

resulted in a fully functioning page. I'll un and reinstall the Chrome and see

if that shakes it off but I find it very odd that only the tv.apple.com site is

affected.

So where r the Apple people to explain what is going on?

This is a user-to-user forum. Apple staff doesn’t participate here. However, Apple has made a support article available with more info in general:

Recognize and avoid social engineering schemes including phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support

and Identify legitimate emails from the App Store or iTunes Store - Apple Support

this happened to me except I didn’t pay attention to who sent it and right after I filled in the info I froze my card cuz I actually took a minute to think lol now I have to cancel it but the fields did put it in automatically. I responded to the email. it irritates me as Apple should be making customers aware of this. What makes me think it is a scam is the threatening with the account will be closed. It’s definitely not legit sounding to me at all. Not to mention they reached out using my email and my yahoo one not even my iCloud.

You fell for an email phishing scam.

The scammers don’t seem to have their scam web page working quite right, or they just don’t care about how well it works after they’ve collected their data.

Your efforts to get the payment card cancelled are absolutely the correct path, but what other data was provided for the phishing is gone.

… assuming this is a fishing scam

Indeed it is.

Correlation does not imply causation.

Is this for the site or the app?

For the site: which browser are you using?

Do try a computer restart. Do try a browser restart, clearing browser caches, and removing web data (cookies) for the apple.com domain. Do try a different browser. Apple recommends Chrome and Firefox.
