It sounds like maybe rebooting the Mac, and a forced re-start of the phone might work. See this:

We need some details. For instance:
When I airdrop a picture from my phone's Photos app, I select the picture, choose Share>AirDrop, and I see my iPad and my Mac in a list of places. (I see my Mac there because in the AirDrop app on my Mac I chose "Allow me to be discovered by Everyone.") I select my Mac and wait a moment, and a notification comes up that says I'm getting an AirDrop in my Downloads folder, my Downloads folder opens, and there's the file.
Where in this process is it different for you?
I select my MacBook but after waiting, it fails.
