m4 ipad and m3 macbook pro lose internet

Throughout the day, both my M4 iPad Pro and M3 MacBook Pro slow to turtle-like speeds over WiFi. Rebooting the devices always fixes the issue. Normal download speed for me is about 300 mbps. Why are these two devices doing this? Apple TV isn't affected, nor is iPhone, just the M4 and the M3. I can't change the wireless source in my home, because I rent and the router is not mine.

We are seeing the same issues but with M2 and M4 MacBook Pros with MacOS 15.1.1. Our iPad (iPadOS v17.6.1) Air 4th Generation will pull 800Mbps sitting next to the MacBooks and they will go from 300Mbps down to 100Mbps, up and down constantly. We do not see the issue on an a 2016 MacBook Pro running MacOS 14.x. We use Ubiquiti network gear, the access point they are connected to supports 6E.

We've tried the following things but still no luck.

  • Disable the Firewall
  • Try Wired vs Wireless no change
  • Disabled Limit IP Address Tracking
  • Switched off WIFI 6E Switching

Any suggestions or ideas would be helpful.

Below are speed test results from wired connections. One is Windows one is MacOS so not Apples to Apples but they are both on the same switch, both using the same cable types, I've even switched them to ensure the cable isn't bad. The one on the left is the MacBook Pro M4 Pro running MacOS 15.1.1 the right is Windows 11.

By far the easiest way to cause poor performance, instability, overheating and crashing is to install ANY third-party speeder-uppers, Cleaners, Optimizers, or Virus scanners, Bit Torrent, or a VPN that you installed yourself.

are you running anything like that?

Hold down the Option key while you click on the Wi-Fi icon on the menubar to open up the tools for investigating and fixing Wi-Fi issues

First is "Open Wireless diagnostics", which opens the wireless diagnostics Assistant, but does not proceed.

There are about eight different things you can do from here, but the top-level is to choose Diagnostics off the Window menu, or simply click continue, to do a quick check for Gross misconfiguration or operating problems. Your Admin password will be required. If any recommendations are shown, you should consider then seriously.

Next is to hold down the Option key and click the Wi-Fi icon as before. The screen that opens shows operating parameters of your network. Screenshot, transcribe, or photograph the results and post back in a reply on the forums. Looks like this older one.
