Depending on what you are doing, you can access the Surface Pro using Microsoft Remote Desktop which is available from the Mac App Store. So, you can actually use your Surface Pro via the Mac as long as you have some sort of network connection (ethernet works best unless you have a super duper ludicrous speed WiFi),

Accessing Files from Mac on a PC:
A. Use iCloud:
Add iCloud App to your PC's Desktop, and you can access filed that way form your Mac. Get it here: Download iCloud for Windows - Apple Support
B. Use the Web:
Go here, and you can access info, as well: http://icloud.com/iclouddrive
C. External Hard Drive:
You need FAT32 as the format type for a hard drive to be read by a PC and a Mac. Using a USB hub, you should be able to connect both.
