Can’t add a favourite to phone iOS 18.1

When I add a favourite in the phone app, following the search you can’t select the contact.

I’m running iOS 18.1 on an iPhone 16 Pro Max.

I’ve restarted it. Apple Intelligence is on.

I want my contact favorites to display mobile, not messages...how do I change it? On my list of favorites on my iPhone, most show the name followed by "mobile". One of them says "messages" instead of mobile so that when I select it, it sends a text instead of actually calling that number. Can’t add a contact to iPhone “Favorites” list. I saw this question before and the answers weren’t relevant in my case but I did find a simple solution that worked. Write down the contact info. Delete the contact completely. Reenter the contact again. NOW add the contact to Favorites. Don’t know why this worked in my case. The contact may have gotten corrupted somehow. Didn’t have to reboot when I did this but you may want to turn phone off and reboot after deleting the old contact (just before reentering it). good luck.
