MacBook Pro 13" 2019

OS 15.0.1

Could it be M series only going forward? Seems like the Intel models aren't working.

So now the update worked for me, but I'm not sure which specific steps are responsible. I restarted in safe mode, signed out of apple, and updated some icloud settings. Afterward I noticed the download persisted this time and successfully installed, could just be a coincidence though.

It's also possible that Apple servers have been overloaded with downloads, as PRP_53 suggested, or something else entirely.

I found a solution that worked for me based on something I saw on reddit. It recommended turning off the Find Me on the iCloud account then updating, which worked on my MacBook Pro 16-inch 2019.

Turning Find Me back on did bring up the following message though "Some configurations, such as a software or hardware RAID, do not support a recovery partition and can’t be used with Find My Mac." But I ran First Aid in the Disk Utility and then I was able to turn Find My back on.

All is now right with the world (until the next update).

Ok, I did that and it apparently downloaded the installer. But how to perform the installation? It didn't actually install anything.

2018 MBP 15" (MacBookPro15,1) currently running Sequoia 15.0.1. Plenty of free disk space (over 300GB), very fast internet and wi-fi. I have literally tried updating at least 10 times over many days now and it always fails with the same error: Failed to prepare the software update. Please try again.

Never had any issues installing updates before. I have tried some of the workarounds listed here but nothing works.

i finally got my 2018 MacBook Pro (intel chipset) updated to 15.1 from 15.0.1 after several failed attempts to update via normal update procedure. I used the preboot ‘Option’ menu, which included a “Re-Install Sequoia” choice. I did a full backup before doing this. It took about 3 hours to do this.

I think this puts me on notice to start saving to buy a replacement “soon” for my nearly 7 year old MacBook Pro.

I have a Macbook Pro of 2020 with processor 1.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 and I had the same update issue. After various attempts, I switched the sharing cache on and off and thereafter did a safe reboot and the Seqouia update installed correctly after a preparation time of some 30 minutes. The installation took about 30 minutes also, so be patient. I suspect that the safe reboot did the trick. I hope this helps some of you to get over the issue. Success.
