Mac mini: The final days?

Urgent:

Running a trusty but obviously vintage Mac Mini c. 2012. The new one is on order.

In the meantime, seem to have lost the ability to adjust sliders and click on many buttons on web pages and Apple mail.

Is there an easy solution I'm missing? System prefs appear normal.

It actually runs OK in safe mode though obviously slower.

Can I just reload the Catalina software in the recovery mode for its last lap around the block?

Yes, you can reinstall macOS Catalina.

DOn't erase, format or partition the drive.

Just Reinstall macOS from the recovery mode That will lay a fresh copy of the OS and leave your user files and accounts untouched.
