How do I disable voicemail transcription feature on my iPhone 13 mini?

I’ve just updated my iPhone (18.1). All my voicemails are now being transcribed. I’m sure this is a useful feature for some people but there needs to be a way to disable it.

I don’t want it on.

I don’t want my voicemail’s accessed in this way.

Even if I did want it, it’s completely inaccurate. It’s great to have new features but there needs to be the ability to disable them for customers who don’t want them.

When will there be a way to disable this feature?

Even if you toggle "off" you will still receive a voicemail to text message notification with transcript on phone's locked screen. Why would Apple not have an easy solution to turn this option off so people can't just tap your locked screen and read your voicemail like I just did??

I’ve spoken to two Apple advisors and they didn’t have the answer. We went through several “try this” features and nothing worked. This is a huge problem for me. My Doctors are leaving personal medical details on VM and everyone around me can see the transcription on my locked phone. This needs to be escalated to an urgent fix.

No one is accessing your visual voicemails other than you. Transcripts are generated on the device and are not accessible elsewhere, other to directly to Apple — if you explicitly permit it for the purpose of improving speech recognition and transcription accuracy, and your consent must be granted for every transcript. For example, if the transcript contains information the caller might not want Apple to have, then don't grant your consent.

None of your fellow Apple product users on this site can answer that question. If you would like to ask Apple, ask Apple. They won't answer that question either, but if you would like to contact Apple anyway then Contact Apple.

Has anyone come up with a solution that works? I have been able to turn off the live transcription, but i still get a text message on my home screen with the message that literally ANYONE who picks up my phone can see. Like someone else mentioned, I don’t want anyone seeing my private messages. This is a huge privacy violation and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a possible HIPA violation. Apple needs to fix this

Yeah, I said in a later post (which seems to have disappeared) that it doesn't work anymore. I've tried several English versions. Nada. Really irritating. You'd think with all the complaining Apple would fix it - I wonder why they haven't, and aren't even responding to the multitude of requests.
