Apple Intelligence not available in English (UK) on iPhone 16 Pro Max

I have recently downloaded the new software 18.1 on my iPhone 16 Pro Max but when I go on to Apple intelligence & Siri it tells me Apple intelligence isn’t available when iPhone is set to English (United Kingdom) doesn’t give me the opportunity to sign up for the waiting list and I’m trying from the uk.

You will need to switch to US English until the end of the year
