How do I unlock my iPad without losing data?

My Ipad has been in my bag and I have been locked out since yesterday. Can you tell me why it would go into that mode and how do I get it out of that mode without erasing my information.

If the iPad is showing as disabled or unavailable, the data is gone.

Reset it, and restore your iCloud or local backup. This reset can be done with a Mac or PC, or without:

Restore the backup:

If it was jostled into trying and failing the passcode, it would eventually lock.

If somebody tried accessing it, it would eventually lock. The little people are notorious for doing this to their elders’ devices, whether accidentally or intentionally.

What happened here particularly, nobody can know.
