Sequoia 15.1 is slows iMessage & WhatsApp keyboard input

Same problem here. Typing lags in Messages (I don't use WA). The issue started immediately after installing macOS 15.1 and continues regardless of multiple restarts and whether other apps are running or now.

System: MBA M2.

I don't "update" any new system - till at least May, any more. Every Update has had bugs & some have had 12-14 "updates" - yet even then, there are still bugs n problems with software etc.

Ever since we were given a 24" mac by our "kids" [Monterey > Ventura > now Sonoma] I've had numerous problems, even with Apple's own software!

Too many of these Updates are sent out w/o proper testing by actual users, as used to be done. And I've kept my 2012 computer, now to High Sierra, as it works better & didn't "dump" some web pages n programs I NEED to have, like this new one [2022] did.

I have Sophos but disabled realtime scanning did not help. From the other reports this is an OS, not a third party app issue.

It's quicker to open iPhone mirroring on the desktop and type messages into the app...

Anyone solved this yet?

This has been going on for weeks. There are clearly many unhappy Apple users out there.

What astounds me is the silence from Apple!!! Absolutely nothing.

The issue has been identified, what is the delay in solving the problem?

I expected more from the Apple developers……

Don't you think it's relevant that we put our faith in Apple to be offering us improvements to our user experiences when they offer these software updates - and more or less encourage us to go for it - that they shouldn't f#$% up our work flow? Blame it on whatsapp? Yes of course whatsapp now has to adapt, but this was apple's change. I'm just surprised your trying to excuse them. Yes, they have a difficult job, but don't make changes if you're not confident it's actually going to improve our experience.

I have got the same problem. It is super laggy in whatsapp with Mac 15.1

I've 2 Mac, one face this issue but not the other.

the one with this issue is M1 MBA with 16GB RAM,

The one that has no issue is M1 Max MBP with 64GB RAM

Whatsapp and iMessages are the only apps with this behavior.

I have the same issue, reboot/reinstall didn't work. Macbook Pro M1, issue is since updating to 15.1.

I have got the same problem! Waiting next update to fix it.

I am facing the same porblem on both of my Macbook Pro (M1 and M3)

I don't have Sophos installed on my Mac, nor Microsoft Defender. Still looking for a solution...
