I was curious if I placed an order today for something for Christmas , even if it's before the start of the 2024 Holiday Return policy , if it doesn't arrive till after the policy starts , does that still count ok for extended returns if needed to return something for Christmas ? Or do I need to wait and not order it even until the policy date starts ?
Be very cautious when ordering for a future delivery. I ordered two iPhone on Sept 28 with delivery scheduled for mid October. That was perfect, as I would be traveling the first week of October. Low and behold, they shipped on the 30th with delivery scheduled Oct 3. Luckily, UPS held them locally for me and I picked them up on the 9th.

In the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, and many other countries, most products purchased between November 8 and December 25 of this year may be returned through January 8, 2025, according to Apple's website. All purchases made after December 25 in those countries are subject to Apple's standard 14-day return policy.

Eligible products at the Apple Store Online that are received between 8 November 2024 and 25 December 2024 may be returned up to 8 January 2025. Please note that all other terms and conditions provided in the Apple Store Online Sales and Refunds Policy are still applicable with respect to such products purchased. All purchases made after 25 December 2024 are subject to the Standard Returns Policy.

In previous years, the extended holiday return period applied to the date the product was received. So if the product is received before the holiday return period starts, assuming that they do one again this year, then the extended return will probably not apply. However, Apple has not to my knowledged announced a holiday return policy for this year yet, so their terms may change. We'll have to wait and see, but to me it would be risky to place an order today and just assume that it won't arrive until after an extended return period starts.
