File App - loses pdf files. Serious issue with FILE App / IPad
Pdf file automatically disappeared from File App. When I first tried to access it on the File App it was visible, but I could not open it, copy it, rename it… message stated PDF doesn’t exist. Note I was reading the file and highlighting it the day before. When I looked at details of the file it gave me the attached information - basically the name of the file but could not find its location when I tried to open in Chrome since it had that option on the screen. The file could not be found.
I saw older questions / other people that have raised the same issue…. Multiple times in this forum. At this point I can no longer even find the name on the file app!
1) No - I did not delete it. Worked on it yesterday and just to be sure checked the recently deleted in files… nada. I wouldn’t have deleted it.
2) An article said make sure iCloud Drive is on. I cloud drive is on.
3) Someone on the prior thread - said to open it in Books. It’s not locatable from books or docs. It is just gone!
4) It is an IPad Air, on version iPadOS 17.5.1. Someone requested that information in order to look into.
Help! It is a major fault with Apple / File App. If Apple can’t fix it they need to put out a warning! People are losing hours and hours of work! It is not user error - it was not deleted 30 days ago or permanently deleted as one person implied. There are enough similar complaints - Apple needs to take this seriously and fix it or dump the file app and advise a working option. Or at least have a warning when you open the FILE app…. “Warning! PDF files saved here may disappear without warning or action by you!”
