Irritation to skin on wrist

I’ve had watches since they were released and have purchased an Apple Watch 10. I have never had so much skin irritation as I’ve had with this watch on my wrist, I've never had this before , has anyone got the same issue?

iPhone 15 Pro Max, iOS 18

You may have contact dermatitis caused by an allergic reaction or sensitivity to nickel in the metal cases or bands. Nickel is used in the hardening process of stainless steel, aluminum and sapphire crystal.

>>In fact, it is estimated that more than 18 percent of people in North America are allergic to nickel, including 11 million children in the U.S.<<

It happens often enough that multiple doctors have created YouTube videos about the issue. I’ve linked below to a short 30 second video by a physician that explains the issue.

Please make an appointment with your primary care physician and get a diagnosis of your condition. Your doctor. may refer you to an allergist or dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis.

My son had a similar issue but he switched to a different wristband and has not complained since. But do keep a break and maybe apply mild hydrocortisone for a few days locally.

I have not used nor missed a watch since I was a teenager. But I just happened to get donated an old Apple Watch Series 4 (GPS) 2018 and I have changed two different old wristbands to check which one suits me better. ...I am afraid I am becoming an Apple Watch convert after neglecting it since I saw the 1st version in London Apple Store about ten years ago...
