Audio messages being received as M4a

Previously, when a recipient would receive my audio message, it would play just fine. And now all of a sudden, they’re receiving my audio messages as a M4a file. When they try to listen, they cannot hear anything. But on my end, I can play my audio message back and have no issues. Any insight on why it just changed format and no longer works normally?
