downloading newest software update on new i phone 15 is taking forever

I just purchased a new i phone 15 and I am trying to transfer my profile data from my previous iphone XR. I have been stuck trying to update the newest software update on the iphone 15-it has been taking hours with no end in sight. Both phones are on wi fi. Thanks
