Why is my iPhone 16 pro registering as iPhone 17

Example:

When I logged in into my bank account app it has been recognised as iPhone 17.

Your bank account iPhone17,1 is now linked online. If you did not make this request, change your password NOW.

That is the internal model ID used by Apple. In similar fashion, the iPhone 15 Pro = iPhone 16,1 and the iPhone SE 2022 = iPhone 14,6.
