M4 Mac mini for 6K editing

hi all,

Background:

Last year i realy struggled to render my 6K project ( nearly 2 hours ) long on Mac book Air 8GB RAM using 1TB SSD. i finally managed to do it by ( through Prores route and then exporting again as MP4 ). But this year, even that is not happning for same 6K files. exporting stops with NO error on the console app- logs.

My plan:

Therefore I am planning to but Mac Min M4 ( 16 RAM and 256 SSD ). I will use external SSD for editing.

I edit only once a year so i wont be using this machine again until the next year so i dont want to spend thousands of pounds.

Question:

Do you think that M4 Mac mini, which is slated to launch on 8th Nov with 16 GB RAM will serve my need of doing 2.5 hour long 6K projects ( I edit using proxy and i do NOT mind at all if rendering or exporting takes days to finish as this is only my hobby. i don't need real time rendering or quick exporting if it saves me money ) .

This box will cost £599 here in the UK. I never wanted to spend even a penny more as the FCP specs on the Apple website claims that 8GB RAM is requited but 16 GB is recommended. if system crashes with 8GB Ram then i was mis-sold clearly . Anyways. Do you think Mac Mini will serve my need?

My research done:

according to below thread, seems this should be sufficient nut i wasnt allowed to add my question there hence starting a new thread.

You have two significant problems. The first is running antivirus software. The Surfshark software should be fully uninstalled. The same for Chrome and its keystone launch daemons. These two will impact your performance severely, especially with only 8 GB RAM.

Many system running anti-virus software (unnecessary on a Mac, fact) can interfere with all sorts of things. This has been a known issue for years. If you've not had issues so far, you've been lucky. But now you do.

150 GB is the minimum free space for a 1TB hard drive, so yes, your system drive is too full. You must have at least 15% of the total capacity of any system drive left as free space. Secondary drives don't matter.

i have tried so many times but export still fails whichever setting i use. Prores LT, Mp4 or anything. failure happens at different point. infact no failure is shown on the screen. just that process ends without any output. Exporting as proxy works ok. no effects have been added. i have just trimmed edges of videos. since log isnt saying anything or no message is shown on the screen, dont know what it is. last year, all worked ok.

I don't want to spend more time getting frustrated hence thought to get this box and get done with it.
