iPadOS 16.1 screen goes dark while reading oh Hoopla app

After a short while, screen goes dark while I am trying to read. Under General>Display and Brightness the option to change Auto Lock 2 Minutes is not available (in grey) whether I have Lock/Unlock switched on or off. Battery is at 56%. Any advice is helpful.

iPad auto-lock will be fixed at two minutes if you have enabled Low Power mode:

Settings > Battery > Low Power Mode - set to OFF

You might also check that Date & Time and TimeZone are also correctly set for your iPad - as these settings are known to cause various functional issues if incorrectly configured:

Settings > General > Date & Time
