PayPal and Venmo with ApplePay

I used to be able to add my PayPal and Venmo cards to my Apple Wallet. I had to do a factory reset on my iPhone and now I cannot add these cards. I get to the screen to accept the TOS and it throws an error. Both services are the same company. Has anyone else had this issue and was able to resolve it?

Same thing here. I removed both my PayPal and Venmo cards to re arrange some of my 10 Apple Pay debit cards and both Venmo and PayPal Mastercards decline and say “card not added contact card issuer for more information”. I already contacted both PayPal and Venmo and associates seem to have no idea what’s the problem. All of my other cards re-added without any issues. Already factory reset my phone too, so it’s just gotta be something wrong with PayPal the company. Just did away with both accounts regardless since PayPal is a awful company

He tried to add debit cards, that’s the only type of card PayPal and Venmo offer is a MasterCard debit card. Both Venmo and PayPal do not have any say in Apple Pay and no one even a manager has no clue what’s the problem it’s just how apple works with this merchant as PayPal, obviously Apple does not like having any PayPal cards re-added to Apple Pay once you click remove from Apple Wallet and try to add card again. It’s biased in my opinion, but I don’t really care because I don’t like PayPal anyway. Firstbank did it to me once but for some reason the error card not added contact issuer for more information went away after the third attempt of adding FirstBank debit card. All of my other seven debit cards have no problems adding to Apple Pay though, which just goes to show it’s just hit or miss. Also, to mention I tried To experiment and I made a brand new Venmo and PayPal account and even brand new debit cards from PayPal does not add to Apple Pay and gives that same error card not added. Obviously Apple, I suppose banned PayPal cards from my phone. Kind of funny because back in the day, Apple had quite some “beef” with PayPal so it doesn’t surprise me

Sorry, both Venmo and PayPal have credit and debit cards. The PayPal debit card and the Venmo debit card is by Bancorp. The PayPal and Venmo Credit cards are issued by Synchrony Bank.

I understand people have strong feelings about PayPal and their Venmo brand. It was more the other way around, PayPal didn’t support Apple Pay and Apple Wallet. But the hatchet was buried long ago.

I have all four cards and they work fine with Apple Wallet and PayPal and I can remove them and add back without issues.

Apple doesn’t control adding the cards to Apple Wallet. The issuing bank, controls the verification, tokenization and identity confirmation. Once the card completes verification, the bank or TSP sends Apple servers the dynamic token and Apple adds it to the Secure Element.

The only other party involved in the verification process is the Payment Network Operator (Visa, Mastercard, etc.). The PNO may have had a fraud alert on the cards.

I hope my explanation clears up a few things.
