Camera Notch (camera housing) not present on my new MacBook Air M3 15 inch…

Is there a way to make the camera notch present on my MacBook Air 15 inch? It is present when I am not on any applications, however if I open something (for example google, email, etc) the notch goes away. Is there a setting to make the notch stay on the screen all the time?

Is my new iMac's tilted camera during video conferencing a hardware issue? More details: I have a bookshelf right behind me so it is very obvious that the image is tilted (book shelf is straight). This happens with camera set at 0.5x zoom (minimum setting), Center Stage off. I'm assuming this setting should be "neutral". I can play with camera settings to zoom in and recenter manually to make image look straight. But I don't know if the software is compensating for a hardware issue. Here is the question: Can this be a hardware issue that needs to be checked at an apple store (like camera being installed improperly) or is this the nature of the camera and if I can make it work with camera settings it should be ok. Don't have an Apple Store very close so I want to check if this really requires taking the iMac all the way to the Apple Store. Thanks [Re-Titled by Moderator]

It's not a setting, it depends on the application developer. Apple apps (e.g. Safari) use the full screen, going around the notch. Some 3rd party apps do, some don't. Only the developer can fix it, contact them for the apps you use.

Even safari doesn’t use the full screen on mine. The only time you can see the notch is when I’m only on my desktop (screensaver).

My dock also completely goes away when I open an application. I’m wondering if there is a way to fix this?
