Google Login with Passkey Issue

Hello,

I recently switched from a Pixel 6a to an iPhone 16 Pro. All my Google accounts have passkeys enabled. Previously, when logging into my Google account on other devices, a QR code would appear, which I scanned using my Pixel to complete passkey authentication.

Now that I’ve formatted my Pixel and am only using my iPhone, I assumed the authentication process would transition to using Face ID directly, as I only have one device now. However, when I try to log in, I’m still shown a QR code rather than being prompted for Face ID authentication, like I was for fingerprint authentication on my Pixel.

Technically, since I’m now using only one device, I would expect Google to authenticate using Face ID on my iPhone. Has anyone else encountered this issue or have any advice on how to make Face ID the default authentication method?

Thanks in advance for any help!

iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 18
