Permanently Deleting Messenger Photos on iPhone and iPad

Are you speaking about the Messenger app, which is not an Apple product? (Rather than Apple's Messages…) If so, then your best bet is to talk to the developer of the Messenger app. They are more likely to have experience with their own program.

So we're in Apple's Messages app. What do you mean by "others seem to disappear but they don't?" I pulled up a friend's profile and deleted a picture, and it seems gone.

I think you are describing long-touching to get a pop-up menu and choosing, delete-- is that right?

Then I get either Delete Link or Delete Attachment. When I tap that, the picture goes away.

What happens for you?

I don't think that I've ever deleted pictures in messages before, but I think it works for me. I'm afraid I can't exactly remember what pictures I deleted yesterday, but I think that they're gone.

I know I need to also delete the photos via Edit on the main messages view. The photos that won’t delete do not appear there.

I don't know what that is-- I don't see anything in Edit.

Have you tried a forced restart?
