Issue with Document Scanner Producing Excessively Large Files

Dear Apple Support Team,

I’m writing to report a persistent issue with the document scanner function on my Apple device. For the past several months, I’ve noticed that the scanner defaults to "Photo Mode" rather than optimizing for documents, resulting in excessively large file sizes for simple scanned text documents.

For example, a basic A4 text page scan ends up being around 5-7 MB, when in a proper document mode, this size should be a few hundred KB. This increase in file size makes it nearly impossible to send a multi-page PDF (e.g., 4-5 pages) through standard email attachments due to file size restrictions.

This issue greatly disrupts productivity, particularly when sharing documents over email is essential. I would appreciate it if you could provide a solution or fix for this, as I’ve already attempted standard troubleshooting steps without success.
