Unnecessary iCloud storage purchase for 128GB iPhone

I’m 80 yrs old and have 128

gb on my iPhone. Why Do I need more cloud storage which I purchase 50g each month?

iCloud storage is on an Apple server somewhere, it has no relation to your iPhone's storage.


It's used for device backups, photos (if you have iCloud Photos turned on) and to store and sync content, such as Notes, Calendar, email, and files stored in iCloud Drive.


Depending on how much you are using you may not need to pay for 50GB, but chances are with a 128GB phone, you backups will be more than the available free 5GB of iCloud storage, so the extra charge for 50GB is necessary to keep the backups at least.
