Cursor won’t move when sign in screen Comes up

When my login screen comes up, the cursor won’t move so I can put in my ID and open the device

Make sure to get a wired mouse. The trackpad could be turned off in the System Settings in favor of a mouse. And a wireless mouse doesn't always pick up until after you login.
