What is the process cewd?
Since I upgraded to Sequoia 15.1 I now see a process called cewd autolaunching and running. I cannot find any info as to what this is. Anyone know? Is it safe to just quit the process?

I don't have that process running on my Mac using Sequoia 15.1, so it is likely a third party app that is being launched on startup.
The easiest way to identify that is by posting the free EtreCheck report using the Additional Text option when posting. The report contains no personal information, but will show the files in the key folders used to launch processes on startup. You are not required to post it and may be able to identify it yourself, but we are here to provide any assistance if needed.

Thanks for this pointer. I ran EtreCheck but it did not come up with anything relating specifically to the cewd process.
However I dug a little further using Activity Monitor and the info on cewd there pointed to a utility I use called Remote for Mac. I’ve not seen this process before but it showing up on the dock may be related to the Sequoia upgrade. It may have been hidden before by default.
I collected a sample from it running and got a lengthy (and way beyond my ken!) report. At least I know the source is benign...
I can confirm it's related to Remote for MAC that just upgraded on my macbook.
Kind of a clumsy process--it was asking for several new permissions, but resulted in multiple overlapping windows with asking for permission from Remote and then Permissions windows from MacOS obscuring each other.
The only direct match I can find for Remote for Mac is an App Store item.
