On my 13Pro with os 17.7.1
paired to my new ear pods on the settings page….NO “Take a hearing test” option to be seen
Do I need a different software, or a newer phone devise????

It requires both iOS 18.1 AND the just released AirPods Pro 2. It won't be available with older AirPod models.

I also had to re-pair the AirPods after the update, as the prompt for hearing test didn’t activate until a new iPods pro2 devise was recognized.
Thank you, this was the reason for my purchase to begin with. I must say that the music sound is also awesome as the noise reduction is too
If by "just released" you mean the AirPods Pro 2 released in September of 2022, that would be correct.
The firmware that was recently released will allow them to be used as hearing aids just like the newest iteration.

I also have an iPhone 13 and it is updated to iOS 18.1. If you take another look at Settings->General->Software Update and scroll down further you should see the iOS 18.1 update available.

I have a IPhone 13 with the latest update and still no “Take hearing test”. Just purchased the Airpod 2 pro. Please advise. I bought these to use as hearing aids.
