second alerts for calendar
This question keep being asked with no good solutions. and the question ages out. WHY can't I set up my calendar to ALWAYS have the option for a second alert????? It need not be so hard!!!

You have not given a clue as to which device on which you are using Calendar, but I am guessing it's the Mac version. The iPhone version of Calendar states quite clearly the invitation for a second alert. This is more obscure on the Mac version.
Calendar in macOS will add alerts only one at a time and it has no provision for a setting to require a specific number of alerts to be offered.
The see an option for a second alert in the Mac version you need to hover the pointer over the first alert period to reveal the + symbol which indicates the option for a further alert to be added.
