Can I use the new 2024 Mac Mini as a music server ?

I have around 400 GB of CD quality music stored in iTunes on Windows. I previously used the Remote App on iPad to stream music from Windows iTunes to a Yamaha Receiver with Airplay 2. Over the years the Remote app and iTunes on Windows have become unstable and frequently disconnect making this solution unusable.

I am considering a new Mac Mini with an external drive to store the music. I would like to use the iPad with Apple Music to control the stream from the Mini to the Yamaha receiver.

Does this sound feasible from a MacOS perspective ? Thanks in advance for replies and suggestions.

From my M1 Mini I just set up airplay from Music to my Bose speaker.

I have Media Sharing on, and from Music app on iPad I connected to my Home Music Library and streamed to my Bose Speaker--I think that is through the iPad.

What is the Remote app?

Edit: I figured out the iTunes Remote and yes, I am controlling my M1 Mini Shared Music Library from my iPad and streaming to my Bose Airplay speaker.
