Security settings verification on my ipad pro will not accept my security code.

The ipad is prompting me with “security settings verification required”. When I enter the code I use to open the iPad in the required field, the Done button will not work. The Cancel button works, so I can get out of settings. All other functions and apps work fine. Why is my code not being accepted?
