Activation lock on a MacBook pro A2338 from a private owner that

Bought a MacBook pro from a private owner years ago and I wasnt aware that there was an account linked to the macbook much less what that is. What do I do? And I at a total loss?

You go back to the seller and ask them to unlock it.


If you can't find him, or he declines, then the chances are he wasn't the legitimate owner and you're left with a brick.


The point of the activation lock is to deter thieves, on the premise that if the device is unusable it's less of a target and not worth stealing. That message doesn't get through to everyone, though. Sorry.
