Is the upgrade from FInal Cut Pro 10.6.8 to final Cut Pro 10.8 a free upgrade? If so, I'm having trouble doing this. I don't have any options that show up to upgrade. Can someone clue me in to what's going on?

Yes it is a free upgrade. What is the Mac and version of the Mac OS that you are using. You may need to upgrade the OS to get the 10.8.1
You need a late version of Ventura or newer to run FCP 10.8.1.
