can't delete pictures in photos app

I imported pictures from my iPhone to my MacBook Air and now I have doublets on my iPhone. I've deleted the photos from my computer and from iCloud, but I still can't get rid of the doublets on my phone. It doesn't matter if I delete the original picture either. It looks like this, there is literally no delete button:

iPhone 15 Pro, iOS 17

The usual reason why a photo or video on your phone would not be deletable is if that photo or video had been "synced" by wire to your phone from a Mac or PC running iTunes (or more recently, Finder on a Mac). These photos/videos go into a special area on your phone distinct from your library and not subject the usual means of managing the library. They can be deleted only by repeating the "sync" with different selection of items (perhaps none), which replaces the previously "synced" clump of items.
