why is it you use parental locks snd take extra precaution and remove cards off devices that im still bring chsrged by apple and im not sure what the chsrges are for??? had to now shut diwn my cards which is a pain to do all because of apple??

There should really be steps in place by Apple that if there’s suspicious unusual activity that we get contacted right away to clarify the issue!!! Why can’t Apple do this??? No they just continue to charge over and over and over until they max out a credit card!!!! That card contacts me and I’m beyond livid!! I am now considering switching all devices from Apple especially if they don’t fix this major issue asap and also come up with a better plan in place for issues like this!!! Absolutely ridiculous!!!

A phone call from Apple as well would be the best and the most appropriate thing to do to clear this up. Not an email or rejection. A phone call!!!!

First see if you can recognize the charge:

  1. To see your purchase history, go to reportaproblem.apple.com.
  2. Sign in with your Apple Account.
  3. A list of purchases appears. To see family members' purchases, select the Apple Account button and choose a family member.
  4. To see the full receipt including tax, tap or click the date. Multiple purchases, including subscriptions, might be grouped onto one charge.

If the charge is for a subscription that you no longer want, you can cancel the subscription. Find out where else you can view your Purchase History.

If you checked reportaproblem.apple.com and your emailed receipts and you're still not sure why you were charged, contact Apple Support.

If you sign up for a free trial/subscription that is managed by Apple, then it requires you to double click the side button with the amount showing on your screen. This is not something that is done by accident and it also verifies the transaction with FaceID or Passcode. If you allow someone else to use your device by giving them your Passcode, then you have also authorized them to make purchases. You are not going to get a phone call as it has already been authorized by the credentials only you should know.

Another time your card is authorized by you to be used is when you are the Organizer of a family plan and use Purchase Sharing to allow family members to make purchases to your payment method. Turning off Purchase Sharing will solve that problem.

A subscription is a legal obligation to pay for the service you have signed up for and simply removing the card does not cancel a subscription. This is true for any other company as well, such as a Netflix subscription. Even if the bank issued you a new card, that new card would be charged. This is known as Automatic Billing Updater and is a feature offered by the payment processor used (VISA, Mastercard, Discover, etc). It is simple to cancel any subscription managed by Apple.

Once you figure out how the charges are occurring, you will be able to stop them completely. It may be as simple as requiring a Password for any purchase or changing the passcode on your device. If you are the Organizer of a family plan where members are making purchases, there are a number of steps you can take for that scenario as well. You have not provided enough information to offer a specific solution.

Yes I have contacted Apple as I did not recognize any charges still waiting to hear from them. I have canceled my cards due to this. I just don’t understand how this is possible? That’s why I would like Apple to contact me. Thank you

I can understand your frustration and have been through the complexities of canceling and replacing cards. I’ve had credit cards in my wallet since 1977. One or more of my accounts have been compromised several times over the years. Not once did a merchant ever call and ask me if a charge should go through. Banks have called me multiple times. Hardly a month goes by that I don’t receive a call or text from the issuing bank wanting to know if I’m making that charge. But again, never once in 47 years has a merchant ever called me.

Merchants are not responsible for fraudulent charges. Banks write the rules for credit card usage, not merchants. Banks don’t want the merchant contacting their customers. If the merchant follows the bank’s rules for credit card usage there is really nothing they can do.

Again I understand the frustration. But the people you need to be directing your frustration at is the bank that approved the fraudulent charges. Sorry.
