Kindle not appearing in finder on Mac

There have been multiple questions about this very issue, but because they were posted over six months ago I've not been able to reply. I spoke with Amazon and they have confirmed that recent Kindle software updates will not allow the Kindle to show up via USB. It is a known issue, and it does not appear that Amazon is in any hurry to fix it. However, if you are trying to load documents onto your kindle, there IS a workaround. The answer to install calibre-ebook<dot>com onto your Mac. Import your documents - most formats are supported - into the app. This application includes a content server which you can start up on your Mac, and then go to the browser on your Kindle and enter the IP address of the content server. You can then browse all of your content and download files. Calibre will convert between formats, but for now you should be downloading .mobi files. Also, make sure you enter the Calibre address in this format:

http://192.168.xxx.xxx:8080/mobile

Hopefully this helps some of you out.
